Joyce DeFoe Tate, age 73 of Lewisburg, died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Tate was a native of Giles County, Tennessee and daughter of the late Merlie Delmar DeFoe and Edna Earl Stephenson DeFoe.  She was a member of the 1961 graduating class at Cornersville High School.  She started her career at Kuhns Department Store which later became Big K and retired from the Walmart Corporation.  She was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Flye and Diana McNeese, four brothers, Frank DeFoe, Carroll Don DeFoe, Paul DeFoe and James DeFoe, and step son, Bobby Tate.  She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Tate of Lewisburg, step daughter, Sherry (Ken) Shurm of Murfreesboro, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home with burial to follow in Beechwood Cemetery.

The family will be at Cornersville Funeral Home Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service time for visitation.

Cornersville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
