Obituary for Gloria M Boyd (Marston)

Gloria Marston Boyd, age 84, of Lewisburg, passed away at her home, Sunday, August 2nd, 2020.

Gloria is preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 63 years, Charles Edward Boyd; parents, Raymond Leslie “Les” Marston and Ola Mae Martson, brothers, Lilburn Marston and Ed Marston. Gloria is survived by daughters, Cindy Boyd Looney and Joy Boyd Brown ( Pete ); five grandchildren, Clay Looney ( Krista ), Davis Looney, Carter Looney, Hardin Brown and Anna Boyd Brown; great granddaughter, Eva Marie Looney; brother, Ken Marston; and a large extended family of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, many nieces and nephews.

Gloria lived her life as a reflection of her Christian faith. She always thought of others first, loved and cared for her family, friends and anyone she could help; a faithful servant. Gloria exemplified kindness, grace and humility. Her pretty smile and kinds words were a light to all around her.

Gloria was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisburg where she sang in the Joy Choir, was a member of a Betty Ann Ogilvie Circle and served on many committees throughout her years of membership. Gloria retired from Duck River Electric in Lewisburg making many life long friends. Upon retirement she enjoyed spending more time with her family, traveling to fish camp with Charles, reconnecting with high school girlfriends where they made beach trips, enjoyed luncheons, dinners and sleepovers. Gloria was a fighter through all the medical issues she confronted and managed to beat them all until her final battle. A loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, friend; Gloria lived an intentional, purpose, love filled life.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 8th, 2020 at 11:00am from Lewisburg First United Methodist Church, 325 W. Church St. Lewisburg, TN 37091 with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19, there will not be a visitation prior to the funeral services. We understand that many may not feel comfortable to attend because of the virus and we support and understand that each person do what is best for their individual situation. The important thing is that you were a part of Gloria’s earthly life. Should you not be able to attend, consider saying a prayer of Thanksgiving that God shared the loving beautiful person Gloria was with us for so long and that she was able to be a part of your life.
