Obituary for Hubert Allen Dixon Jr.

Hubert Allen Dixon Jr., age 89, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 at Williamson Medical Center.

He was a native of Memphis, the son of the late Hubert Allen Dixon Sr. and Mary Louise Cowan Dixon. He was an elder and minister of the Churches of Christ for many years. He was the director of Shultz-Lewis Children's Home and AGAPE Child and Family Services.

He was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Memphis Tigers and Grizzlies. He loved the Lord and shared the gospel of Jesus through his words and life. He was a devoted husband to Mary Jo (the love of his life) for 67 years.


In addition to his wife, Mary Jo Talley Dixon, he is survived by two daughters, Kathy Lynn (Sid) Dye of Salem, Indiana, and Nancy Louise Dixon James of Cordova, TN, one son, Thomas Allen (Amy) Dixon of Spring Hill, one sister, Sara Sargent of Mobile, AL, seven grandchildren, Allison Dye Weddle, Andrew Dye, Joshua Dye, Rachel Dixon, Hannah Dixon Martin, Jordan James, Nicholas James, and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son-in-law, David James.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 at 1:00 pm from the Cane Creek Church of Christ with burial to follow in Talley Cemetery at Cane Creek.

Visitation with the family will begin on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 from 11:00 am until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freed Hardeman Scholarship in memory of H. A. and Louise Dixon and AGAPE Child and Family Services of Memphis.
