James Howard Haislip passed away November 8, 2019. He was born May 18, 1932. He was the son of the late Homer Lee and Nannie Laura Edwards Haislip. The love of his life, Ida Mai Reed preceded him in death in 1991. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Darlene Thomason and husband Billy Thomason. Brothers John Dee (Martha) Haislip and Charles Lee (Buddy) Haislip. Other surviving relationships are Mindy and Keith Hooten, Will and Cassie Thomason, Brianna and Travis Edwards and Hadley, Aaron and Katie Thomason, Madison Thomason, Nathan Thomason and Alexa Hooten. Other survivors are precious caregivers Trina Lonning, Lucy Davies and Lisa Wing. There were many over the last 6 years that he was blessed with as well. Howard was preceded in death by three sisters, Lorene Ketchum, Geraldine Lines and Nancy Louise Reese.
Howard was a Navy Korean War Veteran in which he was very proud of his service to the United States of America. He retired from Borden’s and Dairyman Incorporated. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Wilson Hill. He was song leader for the church as well as many area wide singings. He loved to dance and danced all over Tennessee. He is preceded in death by Margaret Haislip, his 2nd wife, who was his dancing partner across the state. He was a Christian man who was kind, giving and never met a stranger.
Visitation will be Sunday November 10 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Monday from 11:00 to 2:00 at London Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of London Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on November 11 by Bill Tankersley with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America.
Pallbearers will be Will Thomason, Keith Hooten, Aaron Thomason, Nathan Thomason, Clint Thomason and Randall Parks.
