Obituary for Richard Joseph Schillig Sr.
Richard Joseph Schillig, age 70, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, October 7th, 2020 in the VA Hospital of Nashville.
He was a native of Harrisburg, Ohio, the son of the late Herman Schillig and Gertrude Smith Schillig. He was a retired employee of TN Technical Coatings and a member of the St. John's Catholic Church. Richard was a graduate of St Thomas Aquinas in Lewisville, Ohio and served four active years in the US Navy and an additional two years inactive.
Rick was a huge family man and spent his time at the ballfields cheering on his grandkids or at the lake fishing. Rick also enjoyed spending time with friends. You could always get a laugh and smile out of him. He enjoyed listening to music and spent many nights at the lake around the campfire strumming his guitar or singing off key.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lorie Johanson Schillig, Lewisburg, three sons, Richard Joseph (RJ) (Teva) Schillig, Jr., Chapel Hill, Curt (Tracy) Schillig, Beau Schillig, both of Lewisburg, six grandchildren, Jayce, Sarah, Subrey, Colyn, Beau, Jr. (Bubba), Garrett, four brothers, Roger Schillig, Marngo, IN, Denny Schillig, Tallmadge, Ohio, Mike (Lisa) Schillig, Lewisville, Ohio, Jeff (Ruby) Schillig, Apopka, FL, one sister, Sherry (Jeff) Sarver, Alliance, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance visitation will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church Lewisburg, Tn from 2pm-6pm Saturday October 10, 2020. Mask are to be worn for those in attendance.
