James Everette "Ebb" Burns

February 28, 1945 ~ June 21, 2018 (age 73)

James Everette “Ebb” Burns, age 73 of Petersburg, died Thursday, June 21, 2018 in Lincoln Medical Center.

Mr. Burns was a native of Pulaski, Tennessee born February 28, 1945 son of James M. and Rachael Russell Burns.  He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was vice president and general manager of Cone Oil Company at the time of his retirement.  He was presently serving as the American Legion Chaplain and was a member of the Richland Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Ann Williams, two brothers, Bobby Burns and Ronnie Burns, and step-brother, William McAdams.  He is survived by his wife, Annie Margaret Brewer Burns of Petersburg, three sons, Jack E. (Pam) Burns of Murfreesboro, Mike (Tammy) Burns of Nashville, and Joe (Brenda) Burns of Petersburg, three sisters, Margaret Baker of Lewisburg, Linda (Dan) Pickle of Lewisburg, and Judy (Rick) Shepherd of Unionville, brother, Jimmy (Donna) Burns of Christiana, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four step-sisters, Ann Gibson, Marie Collins, Jana Swan, and Gayle Vincent all of Shelbyville.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Lone Oak Cemetery with burial to follow with military honors.

The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
